1Pet1:13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." 17Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. - NIV
1Pet2:13Be subject [submit] for the Lord's sake to every human
institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme [authority], 14or
to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who
do good. 15For this is the will of
God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance [ignorant talk]
of foolish people.
16Live as people who are free, not using
your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17Honor
everyone. Love the brotherhood [of believers]. Fear God.
Honor the emperor. - ESV
Jud1:20But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy
faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21Keep
yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to
bring you to eternal life. 22Be merciful to
those who doubt; 23snatch others from the fire
and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fearhating even the clothing
stained by corrupted flesh. 24To him who is
able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence
without fault and with great joy 25to the
only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ
our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. - NIV
