Rm12:1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. - NIV
Rm8:5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds
set on what that nature desires; but those who live in
accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
6The mind of sinful man is death, but the
mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the
sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do
so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 9You,
however, are controlled not by the sinful
nature but by the Spirit, if
the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does
not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong
to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you,
your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of
righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who
raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead
will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. 12Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to
the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13For
if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit
you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because
those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.- NIV
1Jhn5:1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how
we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his
commands. 3This is love for God: to obey his
commands. And his
commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the
world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who
is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of
God. ..... 11And this is the testimony:
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who
has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I
write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you
may know that you have eternal life. 14This
is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according
to his will, he hears us. 15And
if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked
of him. .....
18We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who
was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 19We
know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control
of the evil one. 20We know also that the Son of God has come and has
given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him
who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. - NIV
1Pet2:13Be subject [submit] for the Lord's sake to every human institution,
whether it be to the emperor
as supreme [authority], 14or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do
evil and to praise those who do good. 15For this is the will of God,
that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance [ignorant talk] of foolish people.
16Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for
evil, but living as servants
of God. 17Honor everyone. Love the
brotherhood [of believers]. Fear God. Honor the
emperor. - ESV
