Rm3:20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. 21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. 27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. 28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. - NIV
Rm4:1What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in
this matter? 2If, in
fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had
something to boast about--but not before God. 3What does the
Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as
righteousness." 4Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift,
but as an obligation. 5However, to the man who does not work
but
trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. 6David
says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God
credits righteousness apart from works:
7Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8Blessed is the man
whose sin the Lord will never count
against him." (Psa32:1-2)
- NIV
Rm4:18Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father
of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring
be." 19Without
weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as
dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also
dead. 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise
of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being
fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22This
is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." 23The
words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, 24but
also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him
who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25He was delivered over to
death for our sins and was raised to life for our
justification. - NIV
Rm5:1Therefore, since we have been justified through
faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained
access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the
hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance,
character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he
has given us. - NIV
Rm5:8But
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. 9Since we have now been justified by his
blood, how much more shall
we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were
God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much
more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11Not
only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have now received reconciliation. - NIV
Rm5:12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death
through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-- ..... 15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the
trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by
the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16Again,
the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment
followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses
and brought justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one man,
death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's
abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life
through the one man, Jesus Christ. - NIV
Rm5:18Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was
condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of
righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19For
just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so
also through the obedience of the one man the many will be
made righteous. 20The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where
sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin
reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - NIV
Rm8:28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For
those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his
Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And
those he predestined, he also called; those he called,
he also justified; those
he justified, he also glorified. - NIV
Rm8:31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us,
who can be against us? 32He who did not spare
his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him,
graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring
any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who
is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised
to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As
it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered." (Psa44:22)
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who
loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither
death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor
anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - NIV
