1Jhn1:1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4We write this to make our joy complete. - NIV
Rm9:1I am speaking the truth in Christ--I am not lying; my conscience
bears me witness [confirms it] in the Holy Spirit-- 2that I
have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3For
I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of
my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh [those of my own race].
4They are Israelites, and to them belong
the adoption [as sons], the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the
worship, and the promises. 5To them
belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh [human
ancestry], is the Christ who is God over all,
blessed [praised] forever. Amen. - ESV
1Jhn3:1How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should
be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does
not know us is that it did not know him. 2Dear friends, now we are
children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know
that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3Everyone
who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is
pure.
4Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5But
you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no
sin. 6No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues
to sin has either seen him or known him. 7Dear
children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is
righteous, just as he is righteous. - NIV
1Jhn5:18We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who
was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 19We
know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control
of the evil one. 20We know also that the Son of God has come and has
given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him
who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
21Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. - NIV
1Pet1:18For you know
that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were
redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but
with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He
was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last
times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him
from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. - NIV
