Rm5:6You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. - NIV
1Pet3:13Now who is there [going] to harm you if you are zealous for
[to do] what is good?
14But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be
blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15but in your hearts
regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense [give an
answer] to
anyone who asks you for a [to give the] reason for the hope that is in you;
16yet
do it with gentleness and respect, having a good [keeping a clear] conscience, so that, when you
are slandered, those who revile3 your good behavior in Christ may be put to
shame. 17For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be
God's will, than for doing evil. 18For Christ also suffered
once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous,
that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit [by the Spirit], - ESV
