And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote [beat] him. LK 22:63 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? LK 22:64 And many other things blasphemously [insultingly] spake they against him. LK 22:65

And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes [experts in the law WU] came together, and led him into their council, saying, LK 22:66 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: LK 22:67 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. LK 22:68 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on [at] the right hand of the power of God. LK 22:69 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye [are right to WU] say that I am. LK 22:70 And they said, What [why] need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of [it from WU] his own mouth. LK 22:71

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. LK 23:1 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting [subverting WU] the nation, and forbidding to give tribute [pay taxes] to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. LK 23:2 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it [so]. LK 23:3 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. LK 23:4 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry [Judea], beginning from Galilee [and coming even WU] to this place. LK 23:5 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean. LK 23:6 And as soon as he knew [found out] that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. LK 23:7

And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season [for a long time], because he had heard many things of [about] him; and he hoped to have seen [to see] some miracle done by him. LK 23:8 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he [Jesus WU] answered him nothing. LK 23:9 And the chief priests and scribes [experts in the law WU] stood and vehemently accused him. LK 23:10 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought [ridiculed him WU], and mocked him, and arrayed [dressed] him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. LK 23:11 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made [became] friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves [enemies]. LK 23:12

And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, LK 23:13 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth [misleads WU] the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching [concerning] those things whereof [of which] ye accuse him: LK 23:14 No, nor yet [neither has] Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto [has been done by] him. LK 23:15 I will therefore chastise [punish WU] him, and release him. LK 23:16 (For of [by] necessity he must release one [prisoner] unto them at the feast.) LK 23:17 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: LK 23:18 (Who for a certain sedition [revolt] made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) LK 23:19 Pilate therefore, willing [wanting] to release Jesus, spake again to them. LK 23:20 But they cried [out WU], saying, Crucify him, crucify him. LK 23:21 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of [crime deserving WU] death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. LK 23:22 And they were instant [insistent WU] with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. LK 23:23 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. LK 23:24 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will. LK 23:25 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of [in from WU] the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after [behind WU] Jesus. LK 23:26 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed [wailed] and lamented [mourned for WU] him. LK 23:27

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. LK 23:28 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare [bore], and the paps [breasts] which never gave suck [nursed]. LK 23:29 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. LK 23:30 For if they do these things in a green tree [when the tree is green WU], what shall be done in the [when it is WU} dry? LK 23:31

And there were also two other, malefactors [criminals], led with him to be put to death. LK 23:32 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary [The Skull], there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. LK 23:33
