He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder [half], and will appoint him his portion [place WU] with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes [blows WU]. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. Let your loins be girded about [be dressed for service WU], and [keep WU] your lights burning; And ye yourselves [be] like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find [them WU] watching: verily [most assuredly] I say unto you, that he shall gird [dress] himself [to serve WU], and make them to sit down to meat [at the table WU], and will come forth and serve them. But as the days of Noe [Noah] were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not [what would happen WU] until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. ........ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat [the other servants their food WU] in due season [at the proper time WU]? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily [most assuredly] I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite [beat] his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder [in pieces], and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: [where] there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Mat 24:32-51 We must be ready to meet God, living by His principles, faithful to the end, or we will not be saved. We must rely on God’s help in getting us ready; we believe He will help us get ready and help us want to get ready, knowing we can’t do it on our own.
